How to Measure for a Custom Electrical Connector Mount

Sometimes a standard mount just isn't going to work.
You might be working around an existing cut-out, squeezing connectors into a tight space or trying to replace an old panel without drilling a heap of new holes.
That's where a custom electrical connector mount can make sense.
The good news is we usually don't need much information to get started.
Start with the available space
First, measure the area where you want the mount to sit.
The most useful measurements are:
- Maximum available width
- Maximum available height
- Panel thickness
- Any existing cut-out dimensions
- Existing mounting-hole locations if they need to be reused
Also check behind the panel for bracing, wiring or anything else that might limit the available space.
Work out which connectors you need
Next, make a list of everything you want in the mount.
That could be a combination of:
- 50A, 120A, 175A or 350A Anderson-style connectors
- 3 Pin Anderson connectors
- Deutsch connectors
- Starlink connections
- Other electrical connectors or pass-throughs
If your setup uses a 3 Pin Anderson Plug or Starlink RJ45 connection, these can also be incorporated into the layout.
A photo can tell us a lot
If you're not sure what measurements are important, send us a photo of the area.
A couple of clear photos with a tape measure or ruler in the shot can make it much easier to understand what we're working with.
For unusual installations, a quick sketch with some basic dimensions is also extremely useful.
It doesn't need to be an engineering drawing — that's our job.
Existing holes aren't necessarily a problem
Already drilled the panel?
Don't automatically assume you need to start again.
If you send through the existing cut-out and mounting-hole dimensions, we may be able to design the new mount around what's already there.
A custom mount can also be useful when replacing an old installation and you want to cover existing holes or cut-outs while cleaning up the finished panel.

You don't need perfect CAD drawings or a page full of dimensions before contacting us.
Give us the space available, the connections you need and some photos of where it's going.
